The Alabama Supreme Court says the parents of an underage girl can sue her boyfriend's parents over claims they took the girl to New York for an abortion.
The court on Friday reinstated a lawsuit filed last year by the parents of the girl.
The Associated Press isn't naming anyone in the case to avoid identifying the juvenile female.
The court's opinion says the plaintiffs' daughter got pregnant by the defendants' son. It says the boy's parents claimed they were taking the couple to New York for fun, but actually went for an abortion because the state doesn't require parental consent.
A lower court in Birmingham threw out the lawsuit, ruling the girl's parents waited too long to file it. The appeals court says that decision was wrong.
