A judge in western Illinois has handed down a 15-year prison sentence for an Alexis man who'd repeatedly been accused of driving while drunk.
Knox County State's Attorney John Pepmeyer tells WGIL Radio that 50-year-old Jon Ahline pleaded guilty in October to a felony count of aggravated driving under the influence. Ahline was sentenced Wednesday.
Galesburg police say officers came across Ahline in March after he was found lying next to his van behind the Knox County YMCA. Police say he appeared to have fallen out of the van after driving there from his Alexis home.
Assistant State's Attorney Josh Versluys says court sentences for earlier DUI violations ordered treatment and counseling. But Versluys says that clearly didn't work, so the stiff sentence was necessary.
