Gail Appleson, Armstrong Teasdale’s firmwide writer, has taken on the additional role of web co-editor for the American Bar Association’s First Amendment and Media Litigation Committee.
In this new position she writes, edits and solicits articles and news items for the committee, which is part of the ABA’s Litigation Section.
An experienced national legal journalist, Appleson, joined Armstrong Teasdale last year as a writer and editor of both legal and marketing projects.
She had served for many years as Reuters’ New York-based law correspondent reporting on high profile trials and legal issues including the prosecution of Martha Stewart, terrorism cases growing out of the 1993 and 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, the bankruptcies of Manville Corp. and Drexel Burnham Lambert and national tobacco litigation including the historic 1998 settlement between cigarettes companies and state attorneys general.
Appleson also previously worked for The National Law Journal and the American Bar Association Journal. Most recently reporting for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Appleson is a recipient of the Missouri Bar’s Excellence in Legal Journalism award. She continues as the newspaper’s wine columnist.
