Actor and Texas native Rip Torn, who beat drunken-driving charges three years ago, has decided not to fight this time. The 76-year-old actor pleaded guilty this week in North Salem, New York, to driving while ability impaired. Torn agreed to pay 380 dollars and give up his license for 90 days. Torn, who was a star of television's "30 Rock" and the "Men in Black" movies, lives in Lakeville, Connecticut.
He was arrested in December on a charge of driving while intoxicated after his car hit a tractor-trailer in North Salem. He refused a sobriety test. Torn - who's from Temple - had been scheduled to go to trial in June.
An attorney for Torn didn't immediately comment. In 2004, Torn was acquitted in New York when jurors said the prosecution failed to prove he was drinking before a fender-bender with a taxi.
A police videotape showed Torn cursing and berating officers before turning down a sobriety test.
